My Portfolio

Detailed Project Portfolio

A comprehensive breakdown of how I solve complex web development, design, and content challenges for my clients. Real problems, real solutions.

Project 1: Small Business Digital Transformation

BUSINESS & WEB DEV

The Challenge

The client was operating a successful offline business but had virtually no digital footprint aside from a neglected Facebook page and a single-page HTML website built in 2015. The outdated site was not mobile-responsive, meaning 60% of visitors (mobile users) were leaving instantly. The font was illegible, contact details were hidden at the bottom, and there was no clear explanation of their services. They were losing dozens of local leads weekly to competitors who had modern websites. Additionally, the site had no SSL certificate, marking it as "Not Secure" in browsers, which destroyed user trust immediately.

The Solution

I engineered a complete overhaul using WordPress. We transitioned from a static page to a dynamic, 5-page structure (Home, Services, About, Projects, Contact). I implemented a sticky navigation bar with a distinct "Get a Quote" CTA button visible at all times. I optimized all images to ensuring the site loads in under 1.5 seconds. For trust, I added testimonials and an SSL certificate. I also set up Google My Business integration so they appear on maps. The client reported a 40% increase in direct inquiries via the new web form within just two weeks of launch.

Project 2: Personal Portfolio Blog

BLOGGING & BRANDING

The Challenge

A university student studying Creative Writing needed a platform to showcase their work to potential employers. Initially, their "portfolio" consisted of folder links to Google Docs and a few random posts on Medium. This approach was highly unprofessional; recruiters had to request access permissions to read documents, and there was no formatting or visual appeal. The content was completely disorganized—academic essays were mixed with personal lifestyle diaries—making it impossible for visitors to understand the writer's niche or expertise level.

The Solution

I built a minimalist, typography-focused blog designed for readability. First, we organized the information architecture: creating distinct categories for "Academic," "Creative," and "Lifestyle." I chose a serif font combination that mimics the feel of a printed novel to suit their writing style. We implemented an "About Me" page with a downloadable CV and a "Hire Me" contact form. The backend was set up for easy publishing, so the student could copy-paste from Word without breaking formatting. Post-launch, the student secured two freelance gigs because recruiters could easily navigate their best work.

Project 3: Local Shop Website Upgrade

ECOMMERCE & REDESIGN

The Challenge

A local boutique shop was using an antiquated free website template that was falling apart. Over 40% of their internal links resulted in "404 Errors," leading to user frustration. The color scheme was dull and did not match their vibrant in-store branding. More critically, there was no clear call-to-action; customers viewed products but had no easy way to ask about stock or prices. The analytics showed a bounce rate of nearly 90%—meaning almost everyone who landed on the homepage left immediately without clicking anything.

The Solution

I performed a total visual and functional redesign. I mapped out a new site structure that grouped products logically. I fixed every broken link and set up 301 redirects to preserve SEO juice. We utilized a modern color palette aligned with their logo (teal and gold). Crucially, I added a "Chat on WhatsApp" floating button on every product page, allowing instant communication. This friction-less contact method revolutionized their sales funnel. The owner reported receiving daily product inquiries starting immediately after the re-launch, directly attributing it to the fixed links and better UX.

Project 4: Readability & SEO Overhaul

SEO CONTENT & EDITING

The Challenge

The client had a health blog with 30+ published articles containing excellent medical information. However, the performance metrics were terrible. The average "Time on Page" was less than 15 seconds. Why? The content was presented as massive, intimidating walls of text. Paragraphs were 10-15 lines long with no subheadings, no bullet points, and no images. Mobile users found it impossible to read. Additionally, there were no internal links connecting topics, so Google was not crawling the site effectively.

The Solution

I conducted a full content audit and rewrite. I implemented the "F-Pattern" layout strategy for web reading. I broke giant paragraphs into 2-3 sentence chunks. I inserted H2 and H3 descriptive subheadings to allow users to scan the content. I added high-quality, lightweight images to break the visual monotony. We also added "Key Takeaway" boxes at the start of posts. Result: Time on Page increased to 3+ minutes. The improved engagement signals also boosted the site's SEO rankings, pushing 5 keywords onto Page 1 of Google.

Project 5: Niche Authority Blog Setup

SITE ARCHITECTURE & STRATEGY

The Challenge

A client wanted to launch an affiliate marketing blog about "Sustainable Gardening." They had passion but zero strategy. Their plan was to just "write whatever comes to mind," which would have resulted in a chaotic website with no topical authority. They had no keyword research plan, no category structure, and no idea how to design a homepage that converts visitors. They risked spending months writing content that no one would ever find on Google due to high keyword difficulty.

The Solution

I acted as the site architect before a single line of code was written. I researched low-competition keywords to target for the first 6 months. I designed a "Silo Structure" grouping content into logic buckets (e.g., Tools, Soil, Seeds). We set up a custom homepage featuring these categories prominently. I also installed an SEO plugin and configured the sitemaps. When we finally launched, the site looked like an established authority in the niche rather than a hobby blog. It was indexed by Google within 48 hours and started ranking for long-tail keywords immediately.

Project 6: Content-Based Tools Website

UX WRITING & EXPLANATION

The Challenge

This client had a functioning website offering free PDF tools (converters, compressors), but the bounce rate was sky-high. The issue wasn't the code; it was the content. The site was bare-bones—just buttons and technical jargon. Users landing on the page didn't trust the site; they weren't sure if the service was free, secure, or how to use it. There was no instructional text, FAQ, or reassurance, causing users to fear potential malware and leave without uploading their files.

The Solution

I rewrote the entire website copy to be human-centric and reassuring. Below the tool area, I added a "How to Use" section with simple 1-2-3 steps and icons. I wrote a comprehensive FAQ section addressing security concerns ("Are my files deleted after conversion? Yes."). I optimized the meta titles to target questions people ask Google (e.g., "How to compress PDF for free"). The result was an immediate increase in tool usage and a lower bounce rate as users felt safe and guided.

Project 7: Community Blog Redesign

UI/UX & MOBILE OPTIMIZATION

The Challenge

An established community forum and blog was seeing a massive dip in engagement. Their design was stuck in 2010—it was not responsive, meaning users had to "pinch and zoom" to read text on smartphones. The font size was a tiny 12px, and the sidebar was cluttered with broken widgets and ads. Community members openly complained on social media that the site gave them headaches to read, and mobile traffic (which was 70% of their audience) had dropped off significantly.

The Solution

I implemented a "Mobile-First" redesign. We scrapped the sidebar completely for mobile views to focus on content. I bumped the base font size to 18px with a clean sans-serif typeface and increased line height for comfort. I cleaned up the homepage to show a curated "Featured Posts" grid instead of a cluttered list. Social sharing buttons were fixed and made prominent. Feedback was instantaneous—comment activity tripled in the first week because people could finally read and interact easily on their phones.

Project 8: Food & Cooking Blog

SCHEMA MARKUP & ORGANIZATION

The Challenge

A talented home cook had great content but a terrible user experience. Recipes were buried at the bottom of 2,000-word personal stories about their weekend. Readers had to scroll endlessly to find ingredients. Crucially, the site lacked "Schema Markup"—the code that tells Google "this is a recipe." This meant their delicious food wasn't showing up in Google's recipe carousel or image search, resulting in zero organic growth despite great content.

The Solution

I reorganized the site structure entirely. We kept the personal stories but added a "Jump to Recipe" button at the very top for impatient users. I installed a Recipe Card plugin to generate proper Schema data (Cook time, Calories, Ingredients). We categorized posts strictly into Breakfast, Vegan, and Desserts. Within a month, the site started appearing in Google's rich snippets (Recipe Cards), driving a 60% increase in organic search traffic.
